By the time I leave
the house on Tuesday evenings I've had another frantic
week of cooking kids' teas,playing hunt the PE kit, stopping
the baby from
eating cat food,endless laundry,scraping weetabix from
the walls... Five
minutes after arriving in Devapriya's yoga class the fog has
lifted, my head has
opened up into quieter places, the relentless noise and
movement faded from
view. My yoga night is the highlight of my week and a
major preserver of
my sanity.

The benefits that I gained when I first started yoga were
so immediate that
I found it a bit strange. We were doing wide open postures
at the time,
opportunities opened up in areas of my life that had been
static and things
actually started moving. I did find that I felt mentally
stronger. Devapriya's
voice is particularly good in tone and, as her instructions
are well -paced
with the breathing and movements, this enables recall
of her instructions
outside of the class.

What are the classes
like?
They are a combination of
stretching and postures, to increase flexibility
and strength as well as meditative breathing and deep
relaxation to leave
you energised, calm and peaceful. Simple sounds are also
added to some
of the movements/poses multiplying the benefits
of our yoga practice.
Sound brings more focus and inner
awareness.
Do I need to have
done yoga before?
This type of yoga is suitable
for most ages and abilities. Whilst you are
encouraged to make some kind of progress, you are advised
to work at your
own pace/level and not to strain or endure pain.
How often do I need to attend?
The benefits are cumulative,
so regular attendance is the key to a more
balanced mind/body and life!
